Frequently asked questions

What is Pilates?
Pilates is a form of exercise that emphasises controlled movement, proper breathing and alignment to strengthen the core, improve flexibility and build body awareness.
Is Pilates suitable for beginners?
Yes. Pilates is designed for all ages and fitness levels and can be adapted to your individual needs and goals. Our Trial Foundation class is the easiest place to start.
Do I need to be fit or flexible to start?
No. You do not need any prior fitness or flexibility. Pilates meets you where you are, and both strength and flexibility improve with consistent practice.
Is Pilates suitable for larger bodies?
Absolutely. Pilates is low impact, joint-friendly and highly adaptable. Our instructors guide you at your own pace so movements stay safe and supportive. Pilates isn't about changing how you look — it's about improving how you move and feel.
What should I bring to class?
Just yourself and a positive mindset. Mats and equipment are provided at the studio. Bring a water bottle if you wish, and grip socks are recommended.
How often should I practise?
Two to three times a week is the usual recommendation. As Joseph Pilates put it: in 10 sessions you will feel better, in 20 you will look better, and in 30 you will have a whole new body.
What is the difference between Mat and Reformer Pilates?
Mat Pilates uses your body weight as resistance. Reformer Pilates uses a sprung carriage that both assists and resists you, making the work more versatile and often more challenging.
